Who We Are
We are a small urban-style family farm located in northern Waller County, Texas. We are less then an hour from Tomball, the Woodlands, Katy, Brenham, and College Station.
We homeschool our two children, Caleb and Taylor, and live debt-free in a house that we literally built with our own hands. We love sharing ideas with others and exemplifying a debtless, self-sustaining lifestyle by raising our own eggs, meat chickens, and our own vegetables. We try to eat in season as much as possible by eating only what is growing or what we personally have frozen or canned. Health and nutrition is of supreme importance and is the reason we started learning how to grow our own garden fifteen years ago!
We own about two acres and grow mostly in raised beds. Our beds are created with composted leaves, grass, hay, and animal manures, then tilled by our layer hens in a "chicken tractor." These beds are an earthworm haven! The soil stays light and fluffy, thanks to the earthworm burrowing action. In fact, if you were to step in the middle of the bed, your foot would sink! This light soil allows the roots ample room to grow as well as creating an atmosphere for premium nutrient distribution.
These raised beds allow us to practice intensive planting techniques, which not only allows us to grow more veggies in less space, but keeps the weeds at a minimum. We practice what we preach - when we set your garden up with raised beds, it is because we believe in the concept so much, we are doing it on a grande scale!
We grow using only natural, sustainable practices...which simply means, pesticide-free & herbicide-free.
Now, that’s freedom in your food!
